I’m so excited to share the “Creative Arts and Crafts” section of our blog, where I’ll be showcasing my daughters’ creative expressions, in shaa Allah, starting from a beginner level and growing with each project. This space is all about celebrating the beauty of learning, experimenting, and embracing the creative process while keeping it aligned with our values.
My daughters will be exploring a variety of arts and crafts—everything from simple drawings and paintings to fun DIY projects, all while incorporating elements of halal art. For us, this means nurturing creativity within boundaries that respect our faith, avoiding depictions of living beings in some projects, and focusing on patterns, nature, and abstract designs that reflect the beauty of Allah’s creations.
In addition to visual arts and crafts, my daughters also love to express their creativity through storytelling. Some of the artwork you’ll see here will come with its own story, written by them to bring their visual creations to life through words. These stories will be featured in both the Creative Arts and Crafts section (alongside the artwork) and in the Language Arts section, where their writing skills and imaginative stories will shine. You’ll see how their art inspires their storytelling, and how their words bring depth to their creative projects.
This space is not about perfection but about celebrating progress, joy, and imagination. As my daughters work on different projects, you’ll see their skills develop over time. Each piece will reflect their unique perspective, their effort, and their growing confidence in expressing themselves through art and stories. Whether it’s intricate Islamic geometric patterns, nature-inspired crafts, or playful DIY ideas using everyday materials, this journey will inspire creativity in a way that aligns with our values.
Through this journey, we aim to embrace the freedom of artistic expression while maintaining a focus on halal creativity—allowing our kids to explore, learn, and create while staying true to our beliefs. I hope this space inspires you and your children to explore the beauty in art, the joy in creating, and the satisfaction of seeing progress from one project to the next—whether through their hands or through their words.

Prompt I used: “A vibrant crayon drawing depicting a Muslim mother and her two daughters walking through a lush garden filled with blooming flowers, viewed from behind. The mother, wearing a long white veil, holds the hands of her daughters, who wear long pink dresses and veils. The garden is bathed in soft sunlight, and the flowers around them seem to bloom in perfect harmony with the joy they share. The scene conveys a sense of adventure, togetherness, and the beauty of learning and growing in nature’s embrace.”
Tip: You can change the style from “crayon drawing” to other mediums to explore different looks! Try these options:
- Oil Painting: For a rich, textured, and classic feel.
- Watercolor Painting: For a soft, blended, and dreamy effect.
- Charcoal Sketch: To create a monochrome, dramatic look with bold shading.
- Colored Pencil Drawing: For vibrant, detailed imagery with fine lines.
- Ink Illustration: For clean, bold outlines and intricate linework.
- Digital Art: To achieve a modern, polished, and vibrant style.
- Acrylic Painting: For bold colors and semi-realistic textures.
- Pastel Drawing: To give a soft, vintage feel with smooth color blending.
- Marker Art: For a bright, graphic look with high contrast and solid colors.
Each style offers a unique mood and texture, so feel free to experiment to find the look that best matches your vision!
