About

All praise is indeed due to Allah. We praise Him and seek His assistance, and we seek refuge with Him from the evils of our souls and actions. Whosoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomsoever Allah misguides, none can guide. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah, having no partners, and I also bear witness that Muhammad ﷺ is Allah’s slave and Messenger.

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,

Learning with Busy Brains was born out of my tiny experience as a mom, homeschooling and parenting children with unique differences, behavioral challenges, and unique needs. We understand that being busy isn’t just an external condition; it’s a state of mind!

When we talk about “busy brains,” we recognize that it’s not the existence of lesson plans, tasks, children, or household chores that creates overwhelm, but the constant activity within our minds. Our brains are often filled with distractions, anxieties, and endless to-do lists, leading to feelings of stress and worry. The same is true for children with their fast and busy minds, which can also be overwhelmed by a flurry of thoughts and stimuli.

Our focus is on raising lifelong learners who are resourceful, resilient and have a strong Islamic foundation, in shaa Allah, despite their busy brains, allowing each child to learn at their own pace and readiness. Through a strength-based, interest-led approach, we share our experiences and insights to support and encourage families navigating the challenges of homeschooling. By embracing and understanding these “busy brains,” we hope to inspire others to turn what feels like chaos into a joyful, fulfilling learning experience.

Our posts will reflect the ebb and flow of our family’s homeschooling journey as we grow and find our rhythm together. Some days, my girls’ learning sparks the writing, and on the other days, I share from my own thoughts and experiences. We’re learning and growing together, and this blog will be a real-time reflection of the dynamic and evolving lives we live as a family.

Meet the Mom Behind Learning with Busy Brains

Welcome! I’m Azizah, a homeschooling mom passionate about helping my children thrive through personalized, strength-based learning. My journey into homeschooling began after I left my career in sales and business development. While the corporate world was exciting, it often left me feeling drained and burned out, which motivated me to transition into a more family-centered life.

Previously, I shared our homeschooling journey on my old website, MomHomeschoolDiary.com. As our focus and goals evolved, I decided to create a new space that better represents our vision. That’s how Learning with Busy Brains came to life—a platform dedicated to supporting families, especially those with neurodivergent children, through our unique experiences.

Alhamdulillah, one of my greatest blessings is seeing my first daughter, who was non-verbal until age 7, now able to speak. Her progress has been a huge part of my decision to continue homeschooling after reaching the point of almost giving up. With my two daughters—one of whom has AuDHD—I strive to build a nurturing environment where they can explore their interests and grow at their own pace, guided by their strengths.

I believe that every child is a trust from Allah, and it’s my responsibility to raise them with love, compassion, and patience, In shaa Allah. Through Learning with Busy Brains, I share our experiences, insights, and resources, hoping to inspire other families navigating the beautiful, messy world of homeschooling with neurodivergent children.
